Spike in Motorcycle Accidents Prompts Social Media Campaign from KSP

With a 69% spike in motorcycle accidents so far this year, Kentucky State Police are turning to social media to counter the problem.  KSP spokesman Trooper Michael Webb says the agency is launching a weeklong campaign urging both motorcyclists and drivers to be careful. He says,

“Our message for motorcycle safety is simply to be more proactive and vigilant in the upcoming months. Summer is closely upon us and we know that more motorcyclists will be on the roadway during that time.”

Through April 4th, 249 motorcycle-related crashes in Kentucky have led to 167 injuries and 9 deaths.  KSP hopes that by sending out motorcycle safety messages to its Facebook and Twitter followers, it can get in front of this trend and reduce injuries and deaths on Kentucky's roadways.
