Todd Anderson and Sam "Snacks" Hawkins of Leadership Paducah (Hawkins is also the Director of Operations for the Oscar Cross Boys & Girls Club) speak with Tracy Ross on Sounds Good about the OCBGC and the opportunities it offers Paducah area youth. Hawkins also performed some slam poetry. They also talked about  the Big Bang Dueling Pianos Band performing for a benefit for the Oscar Cross Boys & Girls Club at Harrah's in Metropolis on June 1. The event also features comedian "Kier." Doors open at 6 p.m., individual tickets are $50 each.

The Tennessee Iris Festival Iris and Horticulture Show is Friday and the David Johnson Chorus performs Saturday. Dr. Kenneth Tucker, professor emeritus of Murray State University's department of English and philosophy, has added another novel to his list of published titles. Hell is Where the Heart Is, which Tucker describes as an unabashed farce about behind-the-scenes events at a state university, is now available to the public. They caught up on the last couple of weeks of Racer basketball, specifically the last four games, and preview tonight (Thursday) and Saturday's games. Also, they preview next week's OVC tournament in Nashville.

Murray State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the MSU Jazz Orchestra welcome guest trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium. The concert is part of the 66th annual Quad-State Senior High Band Festival. A highlight of the Wind Ensemble is the premiere of KY composer James Curnow's new work "A Moment in Time" exploring the writings of Matsuo Basho of 17th Century Japan and Henry David Thoreau of 19th Century Massachusetts. Dennis Johnson, Director of Bands at Murray State University, spoke with Tracy on Sounds Good about the upcoming performance.

Tracy Ross recently spoke with Toth about his relationship with touring, how illegal downloads affect working musicians, and his latest album, Blood Oaths Of The New Blues.
