Chad Lampe, a Poplar Bluff, Missouri native, was raised on radio. He credits his father, a broadcast engineer, for his technical knowledge, and his mother for the gift of gab. At ten years old he broke all bonds of the FCC and built his own one watt pirate radio station. His childhood afternoons were spent playing music and interviewing classmates for all his friends to hear. At fourteen he began working for the local radio stations, until he graduated high school. He earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Murray State, and a Masters Degree in Mass Communication. In November, 2011, Chad was named Assistant Station Manager.

NTSB Issues Findings in Eggners Ferry Bridge Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board says the January 2012 allision between the cargo ship the Delta Mariner and the Eggners Ferry Bridge resulted from poor bridge span lighting and crew inattention to available navigational tools. The ship sheared off a 300 foot span of the bridge that crosses Kentucky Lake. No one was injured.

MSU's Dunn Selected to be Youngstown State's Next President

Murray State President Randy Dunn has been selected to be Youngstown State University's next president. The Youngstown State Board of Trustees authorized board Chair Sudershan Garg and Vice Chair John Jakubek to negotiate and execute an employment contract with Dunn. Garg emphasized that the appointment is not final until contract terms can be reached.

MSU Board of Regents Vote Again Against New Contract for Dunn

Murray State University’s Board of Regents Chairman Constantine Curris will begin the work of forming a search committee for a new MSU president in the coming weeks. The board voted Friday morning for a second time, 7 to 4, against extending President Randy Dunn a new contract. The second vote came after Kentucky’s Attorney General declared an illegal meeting occurred at social gathering for a majority of regents the night before the board’s first vote.

MSU Board of Regents Meeting; Possible Revote on Dunn's Contract & Closed Session Planned

Murray State University’s Board of Regents Chairman wants to vote again on President Randy Dunn’s contract on Friday. Board Chairman Constantine Curris released a statement Wednesday asking the board to vote again to reinforce the board’s responsibility to act in an open and transparent manner.

The board first voted against extending Dunn a new contract on March 15th following a social gathering at a regent’s home. The Kentucky Attorney General has since deemed the gathering, where a quorum was present and university business was discussed, an illegal board meeting.

Leadership Trigg's 'Pass It On' Seeks Volunteers to Beautify Lake Barkley State Resort Park

On May 18th hundreds of volunteers will descend upon Lake Barkley State Resort Park to provide labor for some much needed repairs. The project is called 'Pass It On' and it's spearheaded by Leadership Trigg County. Trigg County Chamber of Commerce President Beth Mann spoke with Chad Lampe about the planned work.

Mann also discusses the impetus for the project and how this program could leverage state financial support for the Park.

Calloway County High School Victim of Two Bomb Threats in as Many School Days

Law Enforcement agencies are investigating two bomb threats in as many school days at Calloway County High School. School officials evacuated students around noon Monday and locked down the nearby middle school. Kentucky State Trooper First Class Jay Thomas says the threats were on notes left in a girl’s bathroom.

Trigg County Explores Nuisance Ordinance

The Trigg County Fiscal Court may adopt a new county-wide nuisance ordinance, similar to the one recently updated by the Cadiz City Council. Trigg residents discussed a county-wide ordinance at a recent fiscal court meeting. The ordinance  would be geared toward eliminating abandoned houses and other eyesores like rusty cars and boats.

Moderate Flooding Expected Near Cairo, IL

Moderate flooding is expected near Cairo, IL as the Mississippi and Illinois rivers crests this week, but the National Weather Service said the risk of spring flooding will continue for the next several weeks.

The moderate flooding prediction comes two years after historic flooding throughout many of far western Kentucky's river counties.

NWS Meteorologist Rachel Trevino in Paducah said rainfall and snow north of western Kentucky and southern Illinois along with future storm cells could all contribute to the rising river levels.

“The flooding going on up north of us due to rainfall and the snow packs and stuff probably will kind of affect us down in this area probably in the next two or three weeks," she said. " It will take that long for that water to get down here.”

Dunn Selects MSU's Jay Morgan to Serve as Provost

Dr. Joseph (Jay) Morgan has been selected to serve as Murray State University’s next provost by Dr. Randy J. Dunn, MSU president. He was selected from a national pool of 84 candidates and was one of four finalists who interviewed for the position. The Provost serves as the university's chief academic officer.

Morgan holds a B.S. degree in agriculture science and business, and an M.S. in agriculture science from MSU. He earned his Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University in agricultural education.
